Yahoo email surveillance: who approved the secret scanning program? https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2016/oct/06/yahoo-email-surveillance-government-nsa-fisa Summary:  Yahoo have been said to be screening content but no sure for who the FBI and Fisa court are posisibilites. This isn't the first time a similar method has been use it was previously used to scan emails of potential child abusers by the FBI. It also being used to screen the 'signatures' of terrorist users and organisations. Goitein said. “So it’s not meant for mass surveillance at all. If Fisa is being used for mass surveillance that creates a whole other problem.” Other companies, such as Facebook, use PhotoDNA to identify images that violate their terms of service, not always with success. However the government appears to see no harm in these sorts of intrusions even if indivudals question how images of abuse are illegal to possess and distribute; yet it’s not illegal to talk to terror...

Pixel is a direct challenge to Apple – and a referendum on Google https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2016/oct/05/google-pixel-phone-market-apple-iphone Summary:  Google creates a new phone to rival iPhones directly, instead of partnering up with third parties. This is in order to avoid fragmentation when it comes to the constant developments in programming and software. This is as they believe that audiences are becoming more aware about the updates due tp increased awareness and background information - less of flagship partnership. This will surely test the brand of Google and Apple.  My opinion: This is an interesting development as you will most definatley have Apples market dominance tested as well as find out rather directly what audiences truely prefer, with the sheer research and data power google has, apple is probably in for it. This is a positive as this clash between the two major brands would prevent only Apple being the market leader allowing for a ...

The overall decline for the quarter at DMG Media reflected a 12pc drop in print advertising offset by 32pc growth in digital revenues MailOnline reported 27pc growth in advertising sales My opinion: I think this is definitely due to the developments of new and digital media as there are many more platforms to market and advertise not just print media. How has news changed in the last 20 years?

A little history lesson... Over the last 20 years dramatic changes have taken place in regards to news but we cannot judge its vastness until we see it in perspective to the last 500 years ago too. From town criers carrying the news by word of mouth to the 17th century's print information. Only to progress further into 1920's radio to 1930's-1940's cinema news reels. Then came the major controversy of Nixon's resignation to 1980's CNN, the first news channel to be 24-hours long running. Then leading to the last 20 years and come to major news story that changed politics and live TV news as we know it 9/11. The changes & their impact It isn't hard to see that news as we know it wouldn't have the same impact and outcomes if all these developments hadent already taken place in history. But because they did, with major developments of news and technology over the last 20 years, news has been transformed. Lets begin with broadcast... Over the ...
